Lt. Gen Dr. Malik acts as the Chief Board of Advisor to IIRIS. Insurgency, Lt. Gen. Dr. Malik retired as Deputy Chief of the Army Staff in the year 1998, where he was responsible for all the key aspects of the Indian Army, including operational and logistics planning, budgetary management, research and development for all weapons and equipment. He was also responsible for the training and liaising with other armies.
He was deputed to work with the Defence Research & Development organization, and had undergone four years training at the Frunze Military Academy, Moscow. He also served as honorary ADC to the President of India. He has also trained the Iraqi Army Officers as an adviser for their Mechanized Forces at Baghdad. Lt. Gen. Malik has also been a presenter on Disaster Management for “Pacific Area Senior Officers Logistics Seminar” in Australia.
In recognition of his thirty-eight year of meritorious service, he was awarded the prestigious PVSM, the highest peacetime award for “Distinguished Service of Exceptional Order” in India.
Lt Gen (Dr.) Niranjan Singh Malik has affiliations with esteemed National and International organizations.
He is the Executive Vice President of RSLL(I), Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) that is affiliated to Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth in UK. He has been the President of RLSS (I) North Zone HQ at Delhi. He is a member with International Life Saving Society (ILS) located in Belgium. In the field of education and health, Lt. Gen. Malik has worked voluntarily with several NGOs. He is the Ex-President (India Chapter) of India Development Trust, headquartered in UK. He has been the President of Jan Jagrati Manch, a voluntary organization for education and awareness on National Security issues. He has been the President of Kargil Shaheed Smarak Samiti, Shukratal.
Lt. Gen. Malik has worked and travelled across USSR, Europe, UK, Iraq, Kuwait, UAE, Australia, Singapore, Maldives and Thailand.
