He passed away on February 26, 2026.

Mr. Raza was widely regarded as one of India’s most authoritative voices on defence and geopolitical affairs. A former officer of the Indian Army, where he served in the Grenadiers and Mechanised Infantry, he went on to shape national discourse through his work as a defence analyst, author, and television commentator.

Mr. Raza’s association with IIRIS Consulting reflected his enduring commitment to strengthening India’s strategic and corporate risk awareness. As a Strategic Risk Advisor, he provided guidance on geopolitical risk, national security preparedness, and emerging global threats.

In collaboration with IIRIS Consulting, he hosted the India Risk Report on ET Now, a pioneering talk show focused on corporate risk management. Through this platform, he brought together leading voices from industry to examine both major and lesser-discussed risks impacting businesses in India, reinforcing the importance of preparedness, foresight, and resilience.

Remembering Mr Maroof Raza’s enduring impact, IIRIS President Mr Garry Singh said, “We remember Maroof Raza Saab not just as an expert in global threat analysis, military strategy, and policy advocacy, but a role model who embodied the values of integrity, humility, and social responsibility. He was national asset and the void he left can never be filled.”

Beyond media and advisory roles, Mr. Raza was an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, King’s College London, and the University of Cambridge. He served as an instructor at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, and lectured at premier institutions, including NDA, NDC, and LBSNAA. His writings and editorial contributions significantly shaped contemporary conversations on defence policy and strategic affairs.

His passing is an immense loss to India’s strategic community and to all those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
