Sagarika Chakraborty, CEO of IIRIS addressed the recently held ASIS International Mumbai Chapter’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on December 4 at Samsung C&T, Mumbai. Wilfred Bradford, chapter vice chair, extended a warm welcome to all the security professionals on behalf of the Mumbai Chapter and provided updates to the attendees.
On the occasion, the first agenda item was a presentation on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013 by Sagarika Chakraborty, CEO of IIRIS. Sagarika gave an overview of the act and explained how it impacts the security and safety industry in India. She described the act’s core objectives and elucidated the legal definition of the words “sexual harassment” and “workplace” as per the act. Chakraborty suggested various ways of creating a safe workplace for female employees and spoke about legislative support already in place. Her presentation was followed by an energetic Q&A session, during which many members spoke about industry best practices for women’s safety and shared policies and procedures followed by their organizations on the subject.
